Empowering Young People: UNFPA Highlights Technology's Role in Building a More Inclusive Future

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Nigeria has emphasized the critical role of technology in enabling young people to build a more inclusive present and future.

Speaking at an event commemorating International Youth Day in Bauchi state, UNFPA representative Deborah Tabara noted that young people, born into a digital world, are well-positioned to harness technology’s vast opportunities to drive change in their communities and beyond.

The event, organized by the Bauchi state Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aimed to sensitize and equip adolescent and young people with entrepreneurial skills. Tabara highlighted the importance of digitalization in empowering young people, particularly in shaping conversations around sexual and reproductive rights and services.

He emphasized the need to celebrate diversity and stand in unity to harness their potential.

The Director General of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Mrs. Lydia Shehu, called on development partners to collaborate with the SDGs to achieve the desired goals, highlighting the significant strides made to empower young people through education and entrepreneurial skills acquisition.
