Ganduje Slams Kwankwaso, Labels Defectors ‘Madmen Returning to Vomit’ in Fiery APC Speech

In a scathing attack, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ex-Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has described Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso and his potential defectors to the APC as “madmen who swallowed their vomit.” The remarks, made during a stakeholders’ meeting of APC leaders in Kano on Thursday, mark Ganduje’s first public address since leaving office.

According to a BBC Hausa report monitored in Kaduna on Saturday, Ganduje dismissed rumours of Kwankwaso’s possible defection to the APC, accusing him of lacking political consistency.

“Kwankwaso called joining APC madness and mocked President Tinubu, saying he only developed Lagos. Now they want to return? We’ll welcome them as madmen returning to their vomit,” Ganduje quipped, referencing Kwankwaso’s past criticisms of the ruling party.

Ganduje also took aim at Kano’s current Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, branding his administration a “government of vendetta and cluelessness.”

He accused Yusuf of wasting resources on probes that yielded no results and failing to deliver meaningful governance. “They’ve received more funds in six months than my government did in eight years, yet what have they achieved? Theirs is a government of bandits, clumsy and confused,” Ganduje charged, contrasting his tenure’s focus on continuity with Yusuf’s alleged obsession with investigations.

Addressing speculation about reconciling with Kwankwaso and former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, Ganduje left the door open, noting their collective governance experience could guide Kano’s current administration if unity is pursued. He also downplayed his removal as APC National Chairman, attributing it to zoning and political rotation, and reaffirmed the APC’s status as Nigeria’s largest political platform despite recent defections.

As of press time, neither Kwankwaso nor Governor Yusuf had responded to Ganduje’s remarks, which have sparked heated discussions among political observers in Kano and beyond. The verbal onslaught underscores the deepening rift within Kano’s political landscape as the 2027 elections loom.
