The Central Organizing Committee for the Silver Jubilee of HRH Alh. (Dr.) Umaru Adamu Sanda OON, Gangwari Ganye II, announced a series of events to mark 25 years of exemplary leadership at a press conference held at the NUJ Conference Hall in Yola.
The milestone celebrates the remarkable contributions of one of Northern Nigeria’s most revered traditional rulers, whose reign has fostered peace, unity, and development in Ganye Chiefdom and beyond.
Hon. Mohammed Inuwa Bassi, representing the organizing committee, opened the conference by lauding HRH Alh. (Dr.) Umaru Adamu Sanda’s visionary and inclusive leadership over the past quarter-century.
“This anniversary is a celebration of culture, unity, tradition, and progressive leadership,” Bassi stated, emphasizing the significance of the occasion in honoring a ruler who has bridged tradition and modern governance.

The press conference aimed to unveil the schedule of events, highlight the national relevance of the celebration, and seek media partnership for extensive coverage. It also underscored the legacy of HRH as a symbol of peace and development, with preparations in place to host a memorable and peaceful event attended by high-profile dignitaries.
Born on May 15, 1955, in Sugu, Ganye LGA, HRH Alh. (Dr.) Umaru Adamu Sanda ascended the throne in April 2000 after a distinguished career in the civil service. Elevated to First-Class Traditional Ruler status in 2004, he has championed community development, youth empowerment, education, agriculture, and cultural preservation.
His accolades include the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) in 2001 and an honorary Doctor of Public Administration from Commonwealth University, Belize, in 2013.

The Silver Jubilee will attract prominent figures, including the Vice President of Nigeria, the Governors of Adamawa and Taraba States, and General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (Rtd.) GCON, who will chair the occasion and receive the highest traditional title in Ganye Chiefdom.
Royal fathers, ministers, legislators, and notable sons and daughters of the chiefdom will also attend.
The three-day celebration, spanning May 29 to 31, 2025, includes:
Day 1 (May 29): A public lecture titled “25 Years of Impactful Reign of HRH Alh. (Dr.) Umaru Adamu Sanda OON, Gangwari Ganye II,” led by Prof. Maxwell M. Gidado SAN, OON, exploring the role of traditional institutions in nation-building, followed by an award ceremony honoring prominent Ganye indigenes.
Day 2 (May 30): Arrival and traditional welcome for royal fathers and guests.
Day 3 (May 31): The grand finale, featuring a colorful display of cultural heritage, tributes, speeches, a royal parade, and the conferment of traditional titles on Gen. T.Y. Danjuma and Alh. Tanko Yakasai OFR.
The committee called for robust media coverage to amplify the event’s cultural and developmental significance. Media outlets will receive access, briefings, and resources to facilitate comprehensive reporting, including interviews and features on HRH’s legacy.

Hon. Bassi described the Silver Jubilee as “a historical testament to leadership with vision, service with compassion, and tradition with dignity.”
