GBB Ltd provides internet connectivity for e-health services delivery In Federal Teaching Hospitals.

Galaxy Backbone Ltd of Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy has provided internet connectivity for e-health services at Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Gombe and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBU), Bauchi.

Aliyu Musa, Galaxy’s Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, disclosed this at the 101st regular meeting of Chief Medical Directors and Managing Directors of Federal Tertiary Hospitals in Nigeria on Wednesday in Yola, Adamawa State.

He mentioned that one of the pillars of National Digital Economy Policy & Strategy (NDEPS 2020 – 2030) is a delopment of digital infrastructure. The NDEPS has been developed in line with the Presidential directives given to the Honorable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, on assumption of Office.

He mentioned that the new service will guarantee efficiency in healthcare service delivery and facilitate easy payment and data security for patients and hospitals.

According to him, the service will ensure patients spend less time at the hospital, provide easy access to patient records during emergencies from any location, and facilitate virtual consultation, among others.

Prof. Jibrin Yusuf, CMD of ATBUTH, Bauchi confirmed that their service has been optimised with speed and connectivity as a result of effective services by Galaxy Backbone.

“The coming of Galaxy Backbone to our hospital has changed the way we see our patients in terms of accessing service, making appointments, and seamless payment in addition to secured data for confidentiality.”
According to him, network challenges have been reduced and assured continuous provision of effective service for the patients with Galaxy’s fiber infrastructure.

Dr. Pokop Bupwatda, CMD University of Jos Teaching Hospital and Prof. Uzoma Agwu, David Umahi University Teaching Hospital also expressed the need to key into the service of Galaxy Backbone in their respective hospitals.

“I have testimony of Galaxy Backbone services especially interms of internet connectity and getting data secured. The technology now is making life easy for patients and staff themselves as well as ease of doing business”, Bupwatda said. According to him, the latest system can also improve internally generated revenue for the hospitals.
