Girl Child Day: Adamawa First Lady urges Nigerians to fight against child abuse

The First lady and wife of the Adamawa state Governor who also doubles as the Gender champion Haj Lami Ahmadu Fintiri has reiterated on the need for the society to take cognizance on the role the girl gender plays in shaping and building a society that is favourable and conducive for developmental achievements.

Mrs Ahmadu gave the advised against the backdrop of the global marking of the 10th Anniversary of the girl child day.

Haj Lami further urged all to rise up and respond to specific situations where girls are at risk or subjected to abuses,neglect, violence, deprivation, discrimination on the basis of parental or family care etc. Maintaining that it would help in upholding and protecting the girl child’s rights.

The gender champion further states that every girl child should be nurtured, trained and developed for the sustenance of a brighter future .

While applauding the 2022 Theme “OUR TIME IS NOW – OUR RIGHTS OUR FUTURE ” she maintained that it sure goes inline with her Foundation programme Fresh Air Pro – life empowerment Foundation (FAPEF) whose goals and strides are geared towards supporting girls, being their voices through various Initiatives, and giving them hope.

Mary Adamu, Press Secretary to the First Lady in a statement said she emphasized that history has shown clearly that Nigerian girl is capable of being a change maker wherever she finds herself in any field of endeavor.

She further expressed delight with the fact that in the last 10 years there has been increased attention on issues that concern girls amongst government policymakers and the general public. She complained about the fact that opportunities for girls to have their voices heard on the global stage are still limited, with Investments in girls’ rights minimal.

She argued that girls all over are faced with challenges to attain their potential in a world that is mostly termed male-dominated.

Her Excellency, therefore, used the 10th Anniversary to celebrate all daughters who brought Joy and happiness to their mothers by living a responsible life.
