The Ibrahim Baba-Inna (IBI) Foundation, a humanitarian organization based in Nigeria, has announced plans to empower young girls in Adamawa state as part of Girls in ICT Day celebrations.

The theme for this year’s event is ” Digital Skills for Life”. This event will benefit girls in the communities of Song, Girei, and Yola in Adamawa state.

The initiative seeks to bridge the gender gap in access to ICT resources by providing girls with access to digital literacy skills that can help them thrive in the digital world. Additionally, they will be mentored by fellow girls in the tech communities as well as be given the opportunity to receive training in coding, robotics, virtual reality, and mobile applications.

Retired Lt Commander Ibrahim Baba-Inna, the CEO of IBI Foundation also stated that he hopes this initiative will make a positive and long-term difference in the lives of young girls in these communities. He believes that when young girls are equipped with the necessary skills and resources, they can become empowered to pursue their dream careers and become independent.

The IBI Foundation CEO and Founder, who has worked for many years to support those in need throughout Nigeria, reiterates that it is necessary to make an impact and change lives for the greater good. The Girls-In-ICT Day event is an ITU ( International Telecommunications Union) event that holds yearly on the last thursday in the month of April. The Girls-In-ICT day was on the 27th of April. The IBI

Foundation has been holding this event since 2016 and has so far impacted more than 5,000 girls from previous events not only in Adamawa but 19 other states in Nigeria.

The IBI Foundation has mobilized a team of local volunteers and partners to implement the project. They have also launched an online campaign – #girlsinict2023 – which is aimed at sensitization and generating more support for the initiative.
