Honourable Member representing Gombi/ Hong Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives,Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub,says he will stop at nothing in his bid to bring home to the people of his Constituency all that makes life better and easier for them.
The lawmaker stated the above yesterday in Gombi during the flag-off ceremonies of rehabilitation works on the Gombi-Garkida Road in parts of his Constituency,one of his intervention projects domiciled at the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency ( FERMA) as part of the 2019 fiscal year.
Represented at the programme by one of his political allies ,who is also a former Chairman of Hong Local Government Council,Hon. Ibrahim Gayus,Rt. Hon.Buba thanked the people for their support, while informing them that all his achievements since he was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2015 have been made possible by their collective support. He promised to continue to do more as long as he remains in office.
A prepared text delivered by the representative of the lawmaker reads:
“I feel greatly pleased to have you here today to witness the flagging- off ceremonies of rehabilitation works on one of the most important roads in our Constituency ,the Gombi- Garkida Road,which has over time suffered degredation owing to over- use and lack of maintenance.
“For me, today’s exercise is part of the realisation of a dream borne from our modest efforts to offer the people of our Constituency quality representation and service that will continue to speak for us at all times.
” In the last five years since we, together with you all,began this journey of faithful representation of the good people of Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency,one thing has always been clear on our minds : It is the fact that we must do everything to make a difference.
“By the grace of God and your kind support, we have continued to make that difference through what I consider some of our signature projects ,like the over 300 boreholes that have been sunk across the 254 Polling Units of our Constituency, the construction of Dzangula Road and the different capacity- building and skills development trainings we have attracted, including the ones constantly going on at the Captain Buba Industrial Village,Faci,where we have graduated thousands of our youths and women in various skills who now have the capacity to operate on their own and make ends meet. There are many more such efforts in agricultural and infrastructure development,which have come from our modest efforts since 2015.
” My great people and compatriots,as we gather yet again to witness this new effort aimed at connecting the two important towns of Gombi and Garkida , including other smaller communities and villages,whose capacity for the movement of commuters,goods and services,has been largely impeded by the state of this stretch of road,we are hopeful and confident that when completed the road will not only afford us a new lease of life,but,more importantly,reduce the time it takes for our farmers to access the markets and those who offer better value for their produce.
” In line with our promise to always deliver to you whatever that comes from the Federal Government through our dedicated, modest efforts and representation at the National Assembly,the rehabilitation exercise that we are here today to witness ,just like the recently installed solar- powered street lights in many areas of our Constituency,is part of the humble Intervention Projects that we have attracted to our area. As you already know,we shall stop at nothing in the bid to bring home to our people all that makes life easier and better for them. That is our pledge by which we hope to abide until our tenure in office elapses.
“On this note, therefore,we want to thank the President Muhammadu Buhari- led Federal Government and , particularly, the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency( FERMA) for mobilising to site in order to actualise the noble dream of bringing this road back to life. This commendation is important, especially in the face of threat and distortion of the budget calendar of the Federal Government by the COVID 19 pandemic.
“At this juncture,let me also use the opportunity of this forum to also convey our humble appreciations to the World Bank for making good their promise to undertake water reticulation projects in five (5) towns of our Constituency; namely: Gombi,Garkida,Hong,Pella and Uba.Some of you here, especially,our elders and traditional rulers, will recall the promise I had made in that regard when ,as a member of the Presidential Committee on Northeast Initiative ( PCNI), a fore- runner intervention initiative to the present Northeast Development Commission,I had informed you of the water projects. I feel fulfilled today that the projects are being faithfully delivered to our people at this auspicious time.
“Finally,my leaders,our Royal Fathers,ladies and gentlemen,let me thank you again and again for the support,which you have continued to offer my team and I to represent you at the National Assembly. In all honesty,it is this tacit support that at all times galvanises us to do the much we have been able to do in the last five years. Without such support,it is doubtful that we may have reached where we are today. As the fairy Oliver Twist in that Dickens’ famous book,in spite of the much you have offered us,I am here again asking for more support and prayers for us. But ,in doing this,I am also mindful of our promises and commitments towards the development of our people and our land. Let me, therefore,re- iterate and re- assure you that ,at no time more than now are we better prepared to offer our best in pursuit of every life- enhancing programme for our people. I , therefore,urge you to continue to support us as much as you can; especially,with the knowledge that,wherever the programme exists,we will pursue it and bring it home. This is our solemn pledge.
“I wish to thank you all for coming to witness this event and,once again,call on you to continue to observe all the guidelines and protocols for staying safe and free of the new coronavirus. There is a lot to live for and more to achieve, especially now that the issue of security in our land is getting a lot better,thanks to the Buhari Administration.
