The 19 Local Government area (LGA) Chairmen of Adamawa state expepired today (Tuesday) and Governor Umaru Mohammed Jibirla Bindow of the state ordered the Head of service of various LGAs to take over
Their tenure ended with effect from today the 31st of July, 2018 is line with the local government council law No.4. 2000 of the 1999 constitution as amended.
In a press statement signed by Ahmad Sajoh, Commissioner of Information stated that their tenure expiration is as result of the completion of their tenure as Local government chairmen.
“The tenure of the 19 local government council chairmen ends today 31st July 2018 haven been sworn-in on the 30th July, 2016”.
While thanking the out going chairmen, the governor expresses his appreciation to them for their contributions in developing their areas he directed that they hand over to the Head of Service of their various councils.
The statement further added that the tenure of Lamuurde and that of Michika local government councils will end in August 8 2018 and March 6th 2019 respectively.
It could be recalled that the tenure of local government council chairmen has been subject of controversy in recent time.
The affected chairmen had approached the state House of Assembly to seek for a legislations to extend their tenure.
