Governor Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa has expressed his determination to liaise with the National Assembly (NASS) members from the state to influence budgetary provision for some federal roads in the state.
Bindow made this known on Wednesday when he received the people of Yungur community of Song Local government area who paid him a courtesy visit in Government House Yola.
The governor stressed the need for the NASS members in the state to push for relevant projects for the state.
He said that he would continue to press on them to influence more Federal road projects in the state.
He however, said that his relationship with the members remain cordial, adding that the gesture would soon yield more benefits for the state.
Bindow said that he was prepared to also meet with the Minister of Power, Works and Housing for the purpose of the Mararaba Dumne to Shelleng Federal road project.
It is obvious that the Mararaba Dumne to Shelleng road is a federal road.
“I am going to meet with the minister of works specifically about that road so that it can be considered among other federal road projects.
I can assure you that I can do everything within my reach to ensure that the road in constructed.
“I am also going to liaise with your representatives at the national assembly for how this road can be captured in the next budget.’’
Bindow also said that the administration would constitute committee headed by the commissioner for health on the rehabilitation of all the cortege hospitals in the state.
He said that the committee would suggest those cortege hospitals that could be upgraded to general hospital status.
He also assured the community that the recent state of emergency in education would benefit most communities including the Government Day Secondary Schoo in Dumne.
He also directed the commissioner for education to make an assessment of the Dumne day school with a view to converting it to a science secondary school.
Earlier, Mr Adamu Hosbon, leader of the delegation appealed to the governor to convert the government day secondary school (GDSS) Dumne to a science and technical college.
Hosbon said that such would boost science and technical education in the community.
He also requested the governor to upgrade the cortege hospital Dumne to a general hospital.
He added that the general hospital would provide a wider health service delivery in the community.
He also urged the governor to consider the construction of the Marraba Dumne-Shelleng road.
He said that the road would boost economy of the area.
He noted that the federal government in the past made and attempt to construct the road but abandoned it since 30 years ago.
He commended the governor for his giant stride especially in the area of road infrastructure in the state.
