Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has appealed for peace following the death of a Woman killed by a stray bullet in a Police raid.

The incident happened around 9:45 pm at Doubeli Thursday night when the Police attached to the station were trying to effect an arrest which was resisted by the suspects. This led to an unfortunate reaction by irate youth who attacked Doubeli Police station.

The Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who strongly condemned the killing of a citizen, appeals to all social actors to eschew violence and lawlessness.

“I have asked for a probe into the rules of engagement employed by the men of the Police Force that were deployed for the particular raid.

The Governor said on Saturday that he is saddened and “deeply concerned” by the unfortunate incident.

“The Nigeria Police Adamawa Command had pledged to urgently investigate the remote cause of the incidence and unravel the circumstances surrounding it.

While also sympathizing with the family and friends of the deceased, Governor Fintiri assured
government’s full support and cooperation with the police authorities in their investigation to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the mishap.

“I would also appeal to residents to remain calm and not take the law into their hands on the matter, the state government will live up to her responsibilities of enuring that the right thing is done.”

He noted that the hard earned peace the Government has worked for must not be compromised, “But we all must work together to sustain it for democracy to thrive.”
