The well-attended event, held in Yola, brought together traditional rulers, political heavyweights, and representatives of various ethnic nationalities in the state.

Speaking after being adorned with the new Margi attire, Governor Fintiri described the honour as “deeply personal,” stressing that his political journey began with the unwavering support of the Margi people whose values of courage, honesty, and perseverance shaped his character.

“I am proud to be Margi. If I were to come back to this world again, I would still choose to be Margi,” the governor declared, paying glowing tribute to Margi ancestors for building a community rooted in dignity, unity, and hard work.

Reflecting on his administration’s achievements since 2019, Governor Fintiri recalled inheriting a state plagued by insecurity, decayed infrastructure, and eroded public trust. He said deliberate peace-building efforts, justice, and inter-community cooperation have transformed Adamawa into one of the most peaceful states in the North-East.

In education, he highlighted the declaration of free and compulsory basic and secondary education, payment of WAEC/NECO fees for students, revival of scholarship schemes, massive teacher training, and construction of model schools across the state. “Education is our covenant with the next generation,” he emphasised.

On healthcare delivery, the governor announced upgraded facilities, recruitment of additional health workers, and the commissioning of an ultra-modern diagnostic laboratory at the Yola Specialist Hospital that now offers free dialysis and advanced services.

Governor Fintiri also listed youth and women empowerment programmes, thousands of new jobs, civil service reforms, and massive road and bridge projects, insisting that “governance is about restoring hope, not just building roads.”

The unveiling of the new Margi national attire was greeted with thunderous applause. Governor Fintiri described the attire as a powerful symbol of cultural pride and continuity, urging the Margi people never to lose their moral compass to modernity.

He extended profound gratitude to Margi traditional rulers, including the Emir of Askira, Emir of Uba, Emir of Gwoza, and the Ptil Migzir of Madagali, as well as Margi sons and daughters in Adamawa, Borno, and Cameroon for their solidarity.

The governor equally appreciated neighbouring ethnic groups and royal fathers across Adamawa, pledging continued efforts to strengthen unity among communities.

Special recognition went to fellow governors – Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Kefas Agbu (Taraba), and Babagana Zulum (Borno) – and national leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for their support.

In a touching moment, Governor Fintiri reserved warm praise for his wife, Hajiya Lami Fintiri, for her patience and sacrifice throughout his political career. He dedicated the honour to his family and the entire people of Adamawa State.

Concluding his remarks, the governor assured citizens that his administration remains focused on completing all ongoing projects. “We are not resting on our oars; we are only retying our laces,” he said amid loud cheers.

The event ended with cultural displays, traditional music, and solidarity messages from different ethnic and political delegations present.
