Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri visited the Kofsopah Dam site in Fufore on Thursday, July 31, 2025, to address growing concerns linking the dam to the recent devastating floods in Yola. The Governor’s visit comes in the wake of tragic flooding that has claimed lives and displaced families, prompting urgent action to investigate potential causes and ensure public safety.


Speaking at the dam site, Governor Fintiri reassured residents, stating, “Today, I visited the Kofsopah Dam site in Fufore to personally assess concerns linking it to the recent tragic flooding in Yola. Preliminary expert findings show no threat from the dam. Still, we’re deploying more professionals to ensure a thorough technical review. Our commitment is to facts, not fear.”
The Governor’s remarks aim to quell public anxiety while emphasizing a data-driven approach to addressing the crisis. He confirmed that additional experts would be mobilized to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the dam’s structural integrity and its potential role in the flooding. “We are leaving no stone unturned,” he added, underscoring the government’s dedication to transparency and accountability.
