Adamawa State Governor Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by his Deputy, Prof. Kaleptawa George Farauta, joined the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, PhD, to inaugurate the Northeast’s first Liquefied Compressed Natural Gas (LCNG) Hub in Yola.
The ceremony, held at the Lamido Aliyu Mustapha International Airport, marks a transformative step toward sustainable energy and economic growth in the region.
The LCNG Hub, a collaboration between Greenville LNG and the Federal Government of Nigeria, is set to redefine energy distribution by delivering Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) through virtual pipelines to remote communities.
The facility will also serve as a fueling station for natural gas-powered vehicles, slashing transportation costs and advancing clean mobility.

In her keynote address, Deputy Governor Farauta underscored Adamawa’s commitment to energy initiatives that drive economic diversification and environmental sustainability. “This hub is a game-changer for industrialization and inclusive growth,” she said, highlighting its potential to empower local communities.
Minister Ekpo hailed the project as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s Decade of Gas agenda, emphasizing its role in harnessing the nation’s vast gas reserves for economic empowerment and energy security. “This is a beacon of hope, democratizing energy access across Nigeria,” he declared.

The event attracted a diverse crowd, including members of the Adamawa State Executive Council, traditional rulers, energy and transportation stakeholders, and representatives from Keke Bajaj and Keke TVS tricycle operators, reflecting the project’s broad support.
Expected to create jobs, spur local businesses, and attract clean energy investments, the LCNG Hub positions Adamawa as a regional energy leader. It also aligns with Nigeria’s climate goals, reducing emissions and advancing a low-carbon future.
