Gov Fintiri Presents Scorecard to Tinubu: ‘We Are With You, Mr. President, You Are Nigeria’s Best Tailor’

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State on Monday presented a detailed scorecard of his administration’s achievements to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the President’s one-day working visit to Yola, where he commissioned several landmark projects and performed the groundbreaking for a new permanent NYSC orientation camp.

In a warmly delivered welcome address at the event, Governor Fintiri highlighted key infrastructure developments executed by his administration, crediting the President’s policies on federalism and resource devolution for enabling the state’s progress.

The projects commissioned by President Tinubu included the Yola Model School—one of 21 model schools built across the state’s 21 local government areas at a cost of ₦24.8 billion; the 8-lane expanded Galadima Aminu Way featuring an overhead bridge, underpass, roundabout, and reinforced concrete stormwater drains costing ₦15.6 billion; the expanded and remodelled State High Court Complex A and B at ₦5.5 billion; and the newly constructed automated gate and office complex at the Government House valued at ₦6.3 billion.

Governor Fintiri described the ceremony as a symbolic showcase of broader sectoral gains. In education, he noted ongoing construction of three mega science and technical boarding secondary schools across the senatorial districts, alongside the employment of 5,000 teachers.

On infrastructure and urban renewal, he emphasized efforts to create a mega capital city attractive to investors while developing semi-urban centers to curb rural-urban migration.

He also highlighted massive investments in the Small Towns Water Scheme, which has significantly reduced water scarcity.

Beyond project commissioning, Governor Fintiri used the occasion to express profound appreciation for President Tinubu’s leadership.

He praised the President’s courage in pursuing macroeconomic reforms despite opposition, stating that these policies have directly empowered subnational governments like Adamawa to deliver impactful results.

The governor announced that Adamawa State would fully fund and construct the new President Ahmed Bola Tinubu Permanent Orientation NYSC Camp at an estimated cost of ₦7.5 billion as a “modest symbol of gratitude” to the President and the federation.

Fintiri further detailed state interventions on federal infrastructure, including reconstruction of bridges and roads along federal highways such as the 13-span bridge at Shuwa, 4-span at Hyambula, 3-span at Wuro Ngayandi, and various culverts and washouts on the Maraba Mubi-Michika-Madagali and Ganye-Toungo highways.

Additional efforts include constructing and furnishing four hostel buildings at the Nigerian Law School Yola campus to support expanded admissions, and renovating dilapidated Army Barracks quarters, drainages, and facilities at the Mubi military formation following presidential approval for its reestablishment.

Emphasizing collective nation-building, Governor Fintiri declared unwavering support for the President. “The hallmark of leadership is courage. However expensive a garment is, it only makes sense when it is shredded with scissors and tailored to fit the body. Mr. President, you are Nigeria’s best tailor. Continue to have the courage to make the toughest decisions for the good of the country. Do not waver. Do not falter. Beyond politics, governance is about the people and service to fatherland. We are with you. Our people are with you. Adamawa State is with you all the way, all the time.”

The visit, which drew several state governors and underscored strong federal-state collaboration, also reignited discussions around political alignments in Adamawa amid ongoing speculation about Governor Fintiri’s potential moves.

President Tinubu’s itinerary included interactions with leaders and stakeholders, highlighting national recognition of Adamawa’s developmental strides in education, infrastructure, justice, governance, security, and human capital.
