Gov Fintiri Presents Staff of Office to New Emir of Fufore, HRH Alhaji Sani Ahmadu Ribadu

In a historic ceremony held at the Atiku Abubakar Stadium in Fufore Local Government Area, Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, presented a staff of office to the newly appointed Emir of Fufore, His Royal Highness Sani Ahmadu Ribadu. The event marked a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to deepen its democratic system, reinforce traditional institutions, and bring governance closer to the people.

Governor Fintiri began his speech by expressing gratitude to God for the opportunity to witness this momentous occasion, noting that it was a testament to the state’s commitment to unity, justice, and equality. He emphasized that the creation of more districts, emirates, and chiefdoms was a deliberate attempt to provide solutions to seemingly difficult problems and to take justice closer to the people.

The onus was on the people to build and sustain the emirate, which was a product of their demand

The governor highlighted the importance of the Adamawa State Chiefs (Appointment and Deposition) Law 2024, which was enacted to reposition traditional institutions for maximum performance in the 21st century. He explained that the law aimed to confer more dignity on the institution, provide a rancour-free ascendance process to the throne, and legitimize the institution.

Governor Fintiri congratulated the people of Fufore for having an emir to call their own and urged them to support the new emir in his endeavors. He emphasized that the onus was on the people to build and sustain the emirate, which was a product of their demand. The governor encouraged the new emir to rally his people, galvanize them for development, and discharge his duties as enshrined in the enabling legislations.

The governor also called on the emir to lead in consolidating the institution, resolving conflicts, and arbitrating disputes among his people. He emphasized the importance of local intelligence gathering to aid the security system and the need for the emir to be a unifying force, strengthening social cohesion among his people.
