The defection of five former state legislatures of the Adamawa state house of Assembly from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been described as a recycled celebration by Governor Ahmadu Umaru to have been celebrating.
The APC state caretaker chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal in a Telephone conversation said the former lawmakers are failures who have failed in the last election and decided to join the ban wagon of PDP which is suggesting no decrease in APC neither does it increase any value to PDP.
Bilal taunted that Governor Fintiri seems to have a political imbalance of the effects caused by the mass defection of ADC members, Chief Emmanuel Bello, SDP governorship candidate in 2019,Senator Ishaku Abbo Elisha of the Northern zone and former Adamawa acting Governor, Barr Bala James Ngilari.
Ibrahim further stated that the massive defection of people in Adamawa state to APC is making the Governor feverish to be recycling the celebration of old defectors of failed APC members.
He revealed that the former lawmakers Governor Ahmadu received at the government House, Thursday are known former lawmakers who cross carpeted to PDP with no single effect to APC party.
“Their defection is no longer news as they have since defected to PDP immediately they lost the election in 2019.” Bilal said
According to him, only Barr Shehu Sani is the new defector and his basis of leaving APC is as a result of the new appointment given to him by Governor Fintiri.
“What else do you expect? Hon Sani Shehu is now an employee of the government, he has no other option than to defect. Former Lawmakers like Saleh Tompson, Mohammed Abubakar Maikanti, Leko/Koka, and Fofure constituency respectively, their defection to PDP was a long time ago and were celebrated before now.
” But former lawmaker like Hon Musa Mahmud Kallamu who was first defected as a member of APC after he lost out from the APC primaries in Mayo Belwa constituency during the 2019 elections has migrated to ADC before he finally settled down to PDP.
“Governor Ahmadu is celebrating their defection again and again maybe to feel a sigh of relief from the injurious defection of prominent PDP members not only in Adamawa but across the country. I think he is in pain and celebrating political failures is short-time opium he needs to take in order to feel better.” He added
You may recall that the Governor amidst hundreds of supporters of the former lawmakers were last Thursday received by the Executive Governor of Adamawa state.
Fintiri while receiving them he said the PDP is an umbrella party that will house everyone in Adamawa state.
He said his government is for all people in the state and his administration will make sure it deliver well the dividends of democracy.
