Taraba State Government is set to construct multi million naira ultra modern market complex in Jalingo to decongest the present one at Mayo Gwai Junction.

Gov. Darius Ishaku who made the declaration in Jalingo on Thursday while inspecting the proposed site for the market project however, said the project was in line with the fulfillment of his promise to the electorates.

He said that the construction has become very necessary because the old one at Mayo Gwai Junction is over congested and becoming a risk to free vehicular movement within the state capital.

“I am worried about the market congestion here in Mayo Gwai junction and that is why I have come to inspect this site.

“With this site available, I will construct a modern market complex that will decongest the area and allow for free flow of traffic within the area,’’ he said.

The governor, who was silent on the cost of the project, however, said the new market complex would contribute immensely in boosting economic activities and revenue for the state.

“This market will boost trade and other economic activities in the area upon its completion’, Ishaku said.

Tgnews reports that the governor was accompanied by Mr Anthony Jellason, Secretary to the State Government and other top government officials.
