Governor of Adamawa State, Sen Mohammed Umar Jibrilla is one of the guests at the two day conference for the establishment of Lake Chad Basin Governors Forum, holding at the Multipurpose Hall, Government House, Maiduguri, Borno State, from Tuesday 8th – Wednesday 9th may 2018.
The conference which is expected to come up with strategy for regional cooperation on stabilization, peacebuilding and sustainable development, has in attendance the host Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State, Governors of Adamawa, Yobe, Gombe, Bauchi and Taraba States.
Neighbouring countries of Chad, Cameroon and Niger have also sent representatives.
Thematic panel discussions are expected to address the pathways to enhancing local level synergies, coherence and regional cooperation as well as state of security and counter insurgency efforts in the region.
Experts are drawn from international donor agencies, NGOs, Faith-based groups and the Lake Chad Basin communities.
At the end of the conference a consensus is expected on the adoption of what is tagged ” the Maiduguri declaration”.
