Adamawa state governor, Sen Mohammed Umar Jibrilla, says arrangement have been concluded to provide about five thousand bomb detecting devices to places of worship and markets in Mubi as the first step toward boosting the state’s security superstructure.
He stated this when he visited the Emir of Mubi to condole him and his subjects over the recent bomb blast which killed scores and injured many at a mosque in Kasuwan Gonjo.
The governor emphasised the need for people to imbibe the culture of community policing, noting that, “this has become necessary as places of worship and markets have become soft targets, this calls for vigilance on the part of the people so that they would compliment the efforts of security personell”.
He described the act as unacceptable, cowardly, barbaric and prayed for the souls of the departed.
Responding Emir of Mubi, Abubakar Isa Ahmadu, appreciated the visit by the governor to condole and sympathise with the people of the area over the unfortunate incident.
He assured the governor that vigilance would be intensified to forestall occourence of similar incident in the future.
At the Mubi General Hospital Sen Jibrilla applauded the effort of management of the hospital and expressed optimism that the remaining victims would be discharged.
He pointed out that, “screening at places of worship and markets should be intensified to check and stop miscreants from infiltrating the society with the devilish intention of killing innocent citizens”.
Conducting the governor round the wards where the victims are on admission, Chief Nursing Officer of the Hospital Doctor Ezra Sakawa, said about one hundred people were involved in the blast, twenty nine died, fifty six were received at the hospital, while twenty seven others were discharged.
He said thirteen have been referred to the Federal Medical Center in Yola, as fifty six have sustained various degrees of injury.
