The Adamawa elder statesman said the Expectations of Adamawa people are very high on the Fintiri led administration and should built on the strides of the past regime of Bindo.
The Media consultant of many mega company gave his opinion when the association of Tricycles (Keke-Napep) in the state said they will be embarking on a two days strike/protest.
According to him in Adamawa State development infrastructure except roads, is provided by rackets of entrepreneurs. Market stores, table water, pharmacies, clinics and even educational institutions are all rackets which survive because the public institutions which should provide them have been crippled and derailed.
‘The racket in the Keke business is that nearly all operators are either on hire purchase or operators making returns to barons. Targets are high and cause the operators to overwork and in fact depend on drugs to go the extra mile in order to meet up.
“The rickshaws operators first register to a union I think for N25,000 non refundable, provide guarantors and receive the Keke at N930,000. It costs a little over N600,000 if not less. The full value is remitted BEFORE the operator can be boarded the asset at agreed price, not less than the N600,000 the initial actual.
“If Fintiri goes up against anybody, it is against this racket. The Adamawa Economy which affects politics makes the State to suffer the highest rate of inflation even for food items that surprisingly include fish despite nearly 700 kilometers of the Benue River and the small rivers dissecting the landscape.” Timawus said
“Were Government to provide minicabs, operators will choose long distance instead even when painted for township commuting. Gombe tried it and lost the investment. Even keke works well as a growing investment sector because it is privately driven. What Government should do is to intensify access roads, opening up the suburbs on top of what Bindow did. But for Bindow, Wuro Jabbe, Jambutu, Vunoklang, were muddy backwaters, now accessible and developing fast.” He added
