Governor Mai Mala Buni Pays Heartfelt Condolence Visit to Family of Late Professor Jibril Aminu

A high-powered delegation from the Yobe State Government, led by Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Professor Jibril Aminu at his residence behind Government House, Dougerei, Jimeta, Yola North.

The visit, on behalf of Governor Mai Mala Buni, honored the legacy of the renowned professor, whose passing has left a profound void in Nigeria and beyond.

The delegation, which included Baba Kachalla Geidam, Permanent Secretary (Political) at the Yobe State Government House, Uztaz Babagana Malam Kyari, Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, one commissioner, and several political appointees, was warmly received by Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong, former Minister of Health, Culture and Tourism, Foreign Affairs, and Trade and Investment, on behalf of the Aminu family.

In a moving tribute, Uztaz Babagana Malam Kyari offered prayers for the repose of Professor Aminu’s soul, describing him as a “genius” and a “good Nigerian citizen” who served with sincerity, honesty, and transparency. He highlighted the late professor’s inclusive leadership, noting his ability to work seamlessly with competent Nigerians across tribal, religious, and regional lines. “His contributions transcended boundaries, leaving a lasting legacy in the medical profession and public service,” Kyari said.

Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, speaking on behalf of Governor Buni, described Professor Aminu’s death as a significant loss not only to Adamawa State and Nigeria but to Africa and the global medical community. “His remarkable contributions touched countless lives, and his absence will be deeply felt,” Wali stated, emphasizing the professor’s monumental impact.

Present at the visit were two of Professor Aminu’s nine children, Murtala Jibril Aminu and Bashir Jibril Aminu. The delegation also acknowledged the close bond between Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong and the late professor, noting that their relationship was stronger than that of biological family.

Dr. Hong, in his response, expressed the family’s gratitude for the visit and the outpouring of support from the Yobe State Government. He underscored the immense loss felt by the family and the broader Adamawa community, describing Professor Aminu as a towering figure whose legacy would endure.
