Governor Uba Sani Praises Tinubu’s Unprecedented Support to States

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has declared that no President in Nigeria’s history has supported state governors and sub-national governments as generously as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The governor made the commendation on February 12, 2026, during the Leadership Annual Conference and Awards held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

At the event, he received the prestigious Governor of the Year 2025 award from Leadership Newspaper in recognition of his inclusive, people-centred leadership that has promoted peace and accelerated development across Kaduna State.

Governor Sani highlighted the federal government’s robust backing, which he said has enabled many states to operate without resorting to loans.

“No President in the history of Nigeria has supported states like President Tinubu,” he stated. “That is the reason today some of us have been running our states without taking loans.”

He emphasized that this level of assistance—through financial interventions, policy support, and resource allocation—has eased fiscal pressures on states amid economic challenges. Sani credited the Tinubu administration’s approach for allowing governors to focus on governance and service delivery rather than debt burdens.

The award ceremony also honoured other notable figures, including First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu as Person of the Year 2025. Dignitaries from across the country attended, underscoring the event’s role as a platform for recognizing excellence in public leadership.

Governor Sani’s remarks reflect growing appreciation among some state executives for the federal-state collaboration under the current administration, which prioritizes sub-national empowerment as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
