Governor Uba Sani Unveils Bold Support Plan for New Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia

In a landmark meeting with the management team of the newly established Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State pledged robust support to ensure the institution’s successful launch.

The meeting, held on April 30, 2025, was led by the university’s Pro-Chancellor, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, who revealed that 18 academic programs have been meticulously developed and are set to commence in September 2025.

Bishop Kukah expressed optimism about the university’s potential to become a hub of innovation and applied learning, emphasizing that the academic programs are designed to meet contemporary demands and drive national development.

“We are committed to laying a solid foundation for this institution, and with the governor’s support, we are poised for a strong start,” Kukah stated during the meeting.

Governor Sani, in a decisive show of commitment, outlined a comprehensive package of support to facilitate the university’s takeoff.

Key among his promises is securing funding from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to bolster the institution’s infrastructure and resources. Additionally, the governor announced the allocation of extra land to accommodate the university’s future expansion, addressing spatial needs for its ambitious vision.

To tackle logistical challenges, Sani pledged the provision of utility vehicles to ease transportation for staff and students. He also directed the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA) to immediately assess and resolve issues plaguing the access road to the university, ensuring seamless connectivity.

In a bid to safeguard the campus and its surrounding areas, the governor revealed plans to collaborate with the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, to strengthen security in the Kachia General Area.

“This university represents a transformative opportunity for our youth and our state,” Governor Sani declared. “We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring it takes off on a solid footing and thrives as a center of excellence.”

The establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, is seen as a strategic move to advance technical education and innovation in Nigeria’s northwest region.

With the governor’s proactive measures and the leadership of Bishop Kukah, anticipation is building for the institution’s debut in just five months. As preparations intensify, all eyes are on Kachia to deliver a new era of academic achievement and societal impact.
