Grassroots politicians in Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) have raised the alarm, accusing certain influential stakeholders of attempting to unilaterally corner and control ward executives and delegate lists ahead of forthcoming party activities.
Speaking anonymously to this medium, one of the aggrieved politicians claimed that key figures have already shared and allocated specific wards among themselves for the purpose of forming ward executives and selecting delegates. According to the source, Digil ward was assigned to Hon. Abdulrahman Shuaibu (Aras) to constitute its executive and delegates; Abubakar Jerengol was tasked with Mayo Bani ward; Ambassador Kevin Peter was mandated to handle Muchalla ward; Ahmad Waziri was given Kolere ward; and Hon. Jafar Magaji was allocated Yelwa ward.
When contacted for his reaction to the growing discontent among party members in Mubi North, APC State Chairman Barr. Idris Shuaibu strongly condemned the alleged moves. He insisted that party structures belong to the collective membership and not to any individual or group seeking exclusive control.
Barr. Shuaibu emphasized the APC’s commitment to internal democracy, stating that no single person has the authority to unilaterally form ward executives or select delegates. “It is the responsibility of all stakeholders to come together and collectively decide the fate of every ward—not one individual acting alone,” he declared.
He further stressed that anyone aspiring to play a leadership role in the process must be a committed, dues-paying member with a verifiable record of consistent contributions—both in cash and in kind—to the party’s growth and development.
“We will not allow room for those who seek to corner delegates, ward executives, congresses or primaries simply to turn them into political commodities for personal gain,” the chairman asserted.
Barr. Shuaibu revealed that credible intelligence indicates some of the individuals involved are being sponsored by a particular gubernatorial aspirant with the intention of handing over the delegates to that candidate. “We will never agree to allow a few people to corner delegates for the benefit of one specific gubernatorial candidate. Our party belongs to all aspirants and all members—not to serve the interest of a single individual,” he said.
The state chairman went on to single out the stakeholders’ forum of the APC in Mubi North, alleging that its leader, Abdulrahman Shuaibu Aras, is being backed by a prominent political godfather to manipulate delegate selection across the local government area in favour of that godfather’s preferred candidate.
Barr. Shuaibu questioned Aras’ suitability to lead the forum, stating that reliable information has cast serious doubt on his integrity and sincerity. “Many are questioning his forthrightness and ability to lead with honesty,” he added.
The controversy has heightened tensions within the APC in Mubi North as the party prepares for congresses, delegate selections and eventual primaries, with grassroots members demanding transparency, inclusivity and adherence to democratic principles in all party processes.
