A call was made to all Nigerians to believe in the ability of anyone that is physically challenged and who is innate with the wisdom of leadership to proffer solutions for the country.
A group under the banner of “We are all Nigerians, for one Nigeria ” made the call to advocate for the right of those living with one form of disability or the other.
The group in a statement signed by its North East secretary Jinana Aliyu said testimony abound around the world of how people living with disability (PLWD) has given good leadership stride in various fields of endeavor.
The group said that the present Adamawa State House of Assembly speaker, Rt Hon Bathiya Wesley who is physically challenged will be a good chairman for the Nigerian forum of speakers.
In their statement they reiterated that to be physically challenged is not to be mentally challenged and Bathiya has the sound mind to lead the speakers across the thirty-six states of the federation to serve Nigerians well.
According to the group, if Wesley becomes the next chairman of Nigeria speaker he will no doubt pilot the affairs of the forum to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to succeed in his administration.
The group therefore called on the President to support Bathiya by making sure that he becomes the chairman and that way he will also bring closer to him all those with one form of deformity to him.
While expressing their confidence in Bathiya to give the needed leadership and be fair to every forum member (Speaker ), they extolled his ingenuity of a good politician who broke the jinx of “anyone can become someone very important in life ” if one uses his or her talent well.
They revealed that the Adamawa state speaker is one of the youngest lawmaker in the country and over the years he has proven to be a good leader of thought that navigate his ways by giving good representation to the people of Hong.
“He has represented a fraction of Adamawa People (Hong Constituency) in his last four years tenure and he held them in confidence and they gave him a second chance because of his prudent records.
“The lawmakers in Adamawa are seeing him as a completely perfect man with no traces of disabilities because of his giant strides of leadership and gave him the steering wheel of the house as a speaker to drive them.
“We are calling on good Nigerians to prevail on all stakeholders across the country to give Rt Hon Bathiya Wesley the Steering Wheel of the forum of Nigeria speakers to lead them as chairman. ” The statement read
