A human right advocacy group, progressive mind for development initiative (PMDI) has petitioned A.S.P Ahmed A Misawa, officer in charge of Gurin police outpost, Fufore Local Government area of Adamawa state for his unending threat, violation of fundamental human rights and extortion of the members of the community.
In the petition letter addressed to the state commissioner of police, Adamu Aliyu Alhaji and copied to inspector general of police, assistant inspector general of police zone, three, the DPO, fufore that Misawa sometime in the month of February, 2021 arrested and detained one Adamu Gako for no just cause and collected the total sum of N470,000,00 as bail before releasing him.
The signed letter by PMDI Chairman, comrade Abubakar Abdulsalam stated that the Son of Adamu Gako who is an motorcycle (Okada) rider took a passenger (Lawali Hammadu Murne) in the ordinary cause of his work, he was in mission of delivering ransom to kidnappers who kidnapped his father, Hammadu Murne in order to safe his father’s life.
“To our greatest chagrin, the O/C ordered the arrest and detention of Adamu Gako. He first collected the sum of N250,000 from Adamu Gako before releasing him and then re-arrested and released him for the second time after collecting the sum of N220,000 from him. The total sum of N470,000 was given to OC by Adamu Gako cash and in person after series of threats.” The letter stated
The petitioner also alleged that A.S.P Ahmed on second case arrested Mai Anguwa Jauro Adamu and collected the sum of N100,000 for his release.
Stated that the fact of the case is that Jauro came back from a journey and met a very strong suspicion of the presence of armed men in the locality, his mother also put up a call for her to be taken out of the community.
When security was beefed the group revealed that A.S.P Ahmed was given N100, 000 for fueling of his car and after a month of beefing up security without any attack he arrested Mai Anguwa Adamu for given false information thereby causing the people to flee from the community.
“He demanded for the sum of N100,000 from Mai Anguwa Adamu which he paid in two installments and was released upon the payment of the first installment.
” Upon making the second installment payment of N50,000, Officer Misawa took the sum of N30,000 for himselfs and sent the sum of N20,000 to Mai Jimila Mohammed Mallum through one inspector Paul and Sergeant Helon Raphael as his own share of the transaction.
“Inspector Paul and Sergeant Helon Raphael took the sum of N2000 each out of the N20,000 and deposited the sum of N16,000 in Mai Jimila’s bank account, the transaction Mai Jimila acknowledge received.
” Sir, our investigation revealed that the members of the community are always being tormented and threatened by the actions of A.S.P Ahmed S Misawa but they are so afraid to voice out their ordeal.” He said
The police command spokesman, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Ngoruje told our correspondent that he is yet to be briefed of the said petition.
He however said that they will come out with their own side of the story whenever the letter from PMDI gets to his office.
“We will study their letter upon receive and reply accordingly.” Ngoruje said
