Delivering his address at the 2026 Local Overseers’ Annual Consultative Seminar held at the ECWA International Conference Centre in Jos—the denomination’s headquarters—Rev. Dr. Baggat described the event as both a strategic and sacred assembly.

He highlighted the critical role of local overseers as God-appointed spiritual guardians over grassroots congregations within the ECWA family.

“As custodians of all ECWA local assemblies, you are the first responders to pastoral needs and the frontline leaders shaping the spiritual health and growth of the church,” he declared. “Do everything within your power to keep the flame of the gospel burning brightly.”

The seminar’s theme, “Enhancing Church Growth in the Face of Contemporary Challenges,” resonated deeply with the president’s message. He stressed the growing urgency for vigilance, as the church navigates a rapidly changing and often adversarial environment. Rev. Dr. Baggat called on every Christian to ensure their “lamps remain lit,” echoing biblical exhortations to remain spiritually alert and fervent.

In a pointed warning, the ECWA leader cautioned ministers who pursue pastoral ministry primarily for personal gain. He urged them to repent, refocus on the Great Commission, and recommit through fervent prayer, diligent study of Scripture, and active soul-winning evangelism.

The annual Local Overseers’ Seminar gathers pastors serving as council leaders for deliberation and direct engagement with the ECWA Executive leadership. The 2026 edition has already seen over 700 pastors participate across its first three sessions, with the fourth and final batch slated to convene soon.

The seminar underscores ECWA’s commitment to sustaining vibrant, growing congregations rooted in authentic faith and mission-driven service.
