Gubi Dam: 4 BSUWSC Staff Members Lose Lives in Maintenance Accident

The Bauchi State Urban Water and Sewerage Corporation (BSUWSC) has extended heartfelt condolences to the families of its four staff members who tragically lost their lives during routine maintenance work at the Gubi Dam Water Treatment Plant.

The incident occurred on Sunday during a scheduled operation at the facility, claiming the lives of Shayibu Hamza, 48-year-old, Abdulmalik Yahya, 29-year-old, Jamilu Inusa, 29-year-old and Ibrahim Musa, a 42-year-old all residents of Firo village in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

In a condolence message issued on Monday, the Chairman of the Board, Alhaji Yayanuwa Zainabari, described the loss as a profound tragedy,not just for the bereaved families, but also for the water sector in the state.

Zainabari said their contribution toward the improvement and sustainability of Bauchi State’s urban water system will forever be remembered.

“It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that I, on behalf of the Board, Management, and Staff of the Bauchi State Urban Water and Sewerage Corporation (BSUWSC), extend our profound condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of our four fallen heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty at the Gubi Dam Water Treatment Plant.”

Zainabari commended the deceased as dedicated professionals who served the people of Bauchi State with unwavering commitment and dignity.

“We are devastated by this incident. We stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and assure them of our full support during this incredibly difficult time. Plans are underway to honour their memory in a lasting and respectful manner,” he added.

He urged all staff across BSUWSC facilities to continue upholding the values of diligence and safety.

H assured that the Corporation is committed to reviewing and strengthening safety protocols to prevent such tragedies in the future.
