Gunmen believed to be bandits launched a brazen attack on the mother and sister of Taraba State Governor, Jumai Kefas, along the Wukari-Kente road in Wukari Local Government Area. The incident occurred yesterday, leaving Atsi Kefas, the governor’s sister, injured.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers attempted to stop the vehicle transporting the governor’s mother and sister, prompting a police escort to fire a warning shot into the air. Despite the prompt response, Atsi Kefas sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Wukari for treatment.

After receiving initial treatment, Atsi Kefas was flown to Abuja for further medical care. The Taraba State Police Command has launched an investigation into the attack, but so far, no arrests have been made.

The police are working to determine the identities of the attackers, who are believed to be bandits. The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of high-profile individuals and their families in the region.
