I say a big Alhamdulillah for seeing this day; because today is not just a unique day to my day-one Teacher and Mentor, the celebrant. But a special day to all of us; the beneficiaries (pupils, students, and now fathers) of his Teachings, tutorials, coaching, guidance and counselling handiwork right from kindergarten to date…
Sir, I refer you as a grandmentor because we were brought up to realize that you have been mentoring alot of our mentors, the likes of, Samson Simon, Musa Bello, Kukuya Godwin Bulndi Kala’a, Mathias Ana’aticha, Sen Abdulazeez Terrang, Sani Jauro etcetera which invariably qualifies you as a grandmentor to people like us.
Indeed sir, your unquantifiable efforts, and sacrifices to the younger generation in terms of guidance, mentorship, and counselling which comes with huge sacrifice from you has remained indelible in our hearts:-
I can vividly recall the termly “Speech and Prize Giving Day” which you organized, all in the wisdom to encouraging us; also the Debate and Literary Club, which you were the Head Teacher, Physical Education which we used to call Pee-Eee, the free tutorial classes you organized for the whole town, in preparation for the final class of SSCE, your ability to keep in touch and follow progress of your students, your usual JAMB questions when you call your students (I am sure, many of us will understand the JAMB questions – Lol)
You are indeed, unique, and exceptional Teacher sir. Your good virtues, dexterity, and capacity, is second to none. Frankly…
Must especially as an erudite scholar (teacher and lecturer); a team player and a football coach; an opinion leader and a gatekeeper; a think-thank and a strategist; prolific writer per-excellence, and above all a statesman of repute with an enviable pedigree full of humor, empathy and success driven of you.
While I can write the whole of this column eulosing you on your birthday, permit me to summarize you as a man of timber and caliber, a breathing encyclopedia, and a man who has severally turned water into wine. Who always see great opportunity is disappointments. An optimist and never a pessimist.
Sir, permit me disclose?…that spending 10-minutes in a class or on discussion with you is worth morethan spending 24-hours in the most equipped and updated library in the world based on your verse wisdoms. Which made me believe that is not everything that is found in the literature. Rather, spending time with men of timber and calibre, people rich in wisdom which you are.
Also, sir, It is to the know of everybody that you are a reservoir of knowledge and a priceless asset, which all generations must subscribe to…and be proud of.
Today, I further pray and wish you sound health, productive longer life, success, and prosperity.
