As harvest season draws closer, the Divisional Police Officer of Kulinyi, DSP Abubakar Yusuf Nafada organized a stakeholder meeting to curb the menace of Perennial farmers-herders clashes that has paused a giant threat to the peaceful coexistence of many Adamawa communities.
The meeting, which took place at Kala’a Central Primary school had in attendance, the Representative of the District Head Representatives, Masu Jimulla, Christian Association of Nigeria and Muslim Council Chairmen, Chairmen of Miyetti Allah, farmers Association, Hunters, Vigilantes and PCRC of Kala’a ward.
In his remarks, DSP Yusuf called on all stakeholders to have all hands on deck, to ensure a hitch-free harvest. He noted that he is ever ready to ensure that law and order are guaranteed throughout the harvest.
He went further to reiterate that the main gap between the farmers and herders is just time. Once there is a consensus of time between both the herders and farmers, then the perennial clashes are avoidable. He concluded by calling on a robust synergy between the relevant stakeholders to ensure that no blood is shed throughout the harvest period.
The Chairman of, the Police Community Relations Committee ( PCRC) Kulinyi Division, Comrade Kukuya Godwin aligned with the DPO on the need for both parties to ensure that peace is sustained throughout the season.
Kukuya noted with nostalgia the peace and harmony that exists between farmers and herders and the need to revive it.
He went further to elucidate that both farmers and herders need one another, as the parties are mutually beneficial to themselves and the Community. He concluded by reiterating their Commitment as a Committee to build more synergy between the local hunter and the Police towards modern Community Policing toward more peaceful coexistence and caution the merchants of disunity, upheavals, and acrimony, it’s a game of no Champion.
