Being a philanthropist with a passion to serve humanity,a visit recently by Engr Salihu Garba Mama Aliyu to the cosmopolitan Specialist Hospital in Jimeta Yola,Adamawa state,condemned himself to guilty as a result of how public hospital are neglected to rumbles of delapidated structures.
He lamented how Health sector is being neglected despite its Paramount nature to life and a pivotal source of economy drive in the country.
Salihu dazed in tears when he visited a niece admitted in one of the female gynecology Ward,discovering the place to be of not much improvement decades ago while is still young.
Garba who is warming up to clinch the senatorial seat of Adamawa central said “One good thing lead to another good great stuff” as the visit has enriched him with an idea to tackle health sector in Adamawa state if God permit him to be the next Senator.
“The last time I visited the hospital since I left Adawama to explore the World of public service in NNPC and academic adventures in London, was my visit to the emergency unit of the hospital some years back. The emergency unit was a few steps from the main entrance of the hospital, unaware of the delapidated insfracstructure and possibly all other government hospital services. However, my visit yesterday, afforded me the opportunity to witness (though at night) the gross neglegence, infrastructural disrepair, environmental hazards and other rots allowed to perpertuate in the colonial era built hospital in #Jimeta.
“It could be a nightmare, especially for pregnant women and or ill-health patient trying to access the patient’s wards area, to be driven on the nearly topsy turvy, untarred road that is adjecent to the apparently, segregated german hospital’s wall, which was built to separate the supposedly, elitist side of the hospital from the talakas’. A segragation which was implemented during Admiral Nyako regime.” He said
He continue to say that appaling harzards observed during his night visit, was the noisy power generating sets pulluting the air quality and a very sandy and dusty hospital environments that missed natural plantations that could not only provide a sense of serenity to the patients, but also provide a healthy, and fresher air around the patient’s wards environments.
He revealed that on leaving the hospital a great concern that was later developed into a form of guilt upon arriving of his comfortable and serene accomodation in dougire hills: tarred access roads, interlock tiles, stable power/water, backed by a sound-proof power generating set. Hevcouldn’t sleep well that very night. Thanking God that a humanitarian movement ideology was born,the conscience of guilty vanished away and pray to God to help well meaning individuals irrespective of political idealogy,tribe or religion to join in improving the health care systems/insfracstructure.
“We are working to see how we can quickly restore the good status of the Jimeta Specialist Hospital without any political coloration. This is purely on humanitarian ground.
“This new ideological humanitarian movement is not based on heaping blames on the current and or previous regime’s failures – its rather our collective failure and we all share in the guilt and the responsibility to be positively different.
Let’s be more humane, generous and always ready to come to the aid of our delapidated legacy hospital that served us well in the past.” He stated
