The highway linking Adamawa and Borno States has been flooded leaving hundreds of travellers and motorists stranded.
TG NEWS learnt that early morning downpour on Monday flooded a major culvert around Mararaban-Daware, between Girei and Jabbilamba towns forcing travellers to abandon their journeys.
Our Correspondent who visited the area saw stranded travellers in their hundreds and long queues of vehicles on both sides of the flooded area.
A supervisor from the Adamawa State Ministry of Education, Arabo Shehu, who was out to monitor schools resumption was among passengers trapped by the flood.
Shehu expressed his frustration, saying, “as you can see, it is practically impossible for me to supervise schools resumption today due to this natural disaster.
“Given this situation I doubt if some schools would reopen this week.
“The federal government needs to act fast and salvage the situation because with more rains in the offing this part of the road can be washed off anytime soon,” he said.
The Yola-Maiduguri road also serves as the only link between Yola, the state capital and northern Adamawa State.
