Officials from the National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA), have commenced a five-day working visit in Adamawa to assess facilities and progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Adamawa.
Addressing stakeholders during an Integrated Supportive Supervisory meeting in Yola on Monday, the SACA team leader, Ms Doris Eket, said the exercise supported by World Bank was also to provide technical support, leadership and other assistance to the state agency for the control of AIDS.
“The exercise will mento SACA on how to adopt our check list.
“At the end of the exercise, there will be an action plan to be developed on challenges identified and how to address them.” Eket said.
She pleaded with government at all levels to start thinking of mobilizing funds for fighting the HIV/AIDS scourge, adding that World Bank funding is expected to stop in 2017.
Speaking at the occasion, the Project Manager of Adamawa state Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (ADSACA), Dr Chubado Abubakar and Prof. Anna Malgwi, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of Miya Mother Association, one of the NGOs involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the state, lauded the series of NACA intervention in monitoring the programme in Adamawa.
They observed that such interventions always impacted positively on stakeholders progress in fighting HIV/AIDS in the state.
The meeting was attended by officials of ADSACA, Civil Society Organizations, Implementing Partners and baseline Ministries.
