One term House of Representatives lawmaker to have represented the people of Fofure, Song in the National Assembly, Rt Honourable Sadiq Ibrahim Dasin said the much-making noise of over-voting in the APC past gubernatorial primaries election doesn’t invalidate Senator Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru Binani winning status as the owner of the governorship ticket of APC in Adamawa

Dasin Ibrahim who is a lawyer and a former Speaker of the Adamawa House of Assembly came from the Fofure/ Gurin constituency said is backing Binani and believes her candidature will bring APC back to power.

According to him as much as the Guidelines provide that voting invalidates the election in law. But there is what is called “de minimis les curate lex” which is the legal principle that the law is not concerned with insignificant or minor matters.

He revealed that the two votes in contention can never change the status of the outcome of APC primaries held at Lamido Cinema in Yola.

“So, to me, where the overvoting is so insignificant as to change the outcome of the election, the two votes recorded as overvoting would, at worst, be deducted from the votes scored by the winner. And if the 2 votes are deducted, Binani still wins.

“So I don’t think people should bother themselves with the issue at all. Besides the Guidelines even says it is the Electoral officer that would declare the election void and he didn’t do it.” Dasin said
