In a heartfelt initiative aimed at bolstering educational opportunities for indigenous students, Hon Salihu Mohammed, popularly known as Abba Girei, took to his verified social media platforms to announce his plan to sponsor the registration fees for 300 indigenous students in preparation for the upcoming Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations. This announcement follows his recent engagement with the leadership of Community Catalyst Initiatives, which successfully organized a Spelling Bee competition involving 20 senior secondary schools in Girei.

Abba Girei, who is not only the Campaign Director for Maurice Vunobolki in the Adamawa State gubernatorial elections set for 2027 but also a former representative for Girei, expressed his deep commitment to education, attributing much of his success to the foundational role that education has played in his life. In his post, he shared, “I’ve truly been inspired and felt it necessary to contribute towards the advancement of education — a system that has shaped me into who and where I am today.”
Under his sponsorship initiative, Abba Girei will cover the registration fees for 100 indigenous students from Girei, as well as an additional 100 students each from Yola North and Yola South. This generous gesture will directly benefit a total of 300 students, significantly alleviating the financial burden that accompanies the JAMB registration process for many families in the region.

In an effort to ensure a seamless application process, Abba Girei has promised to provide detailed information on how eligible students can access the necessary forms. “I will soon provide details on how to access the forms to ensure a smooth process. Stay tuned!” he added, encouraging students and their families to remain engaged and informed.
This initiative comes at a time when educational access and affordability remain pressing issues in many communities across Nigeria, particularly for indigenous populations. By taking proactive steps to support local students, Abba Girei not only demonstrates his dedication to education but also positions himself as a community leader who is committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of those he represents.
Fostering a culture of learning and support within Adamawa State
As the countdown to the 2027 gubernatorial elections begins, Abba Girei’s educational initiative is likely to resonate with voters who prioritize the development of human capital and the empowerment of youth in the region. His actions reflect a broader commitment to fostering a culture of learning and support within Adamawa State, one that puts the future of its youth at the forefront of political discourse.
With his campaign gaining momentum, the community eagerly anticipates further updates and initiatives from Abba Girei as he continues to champion the cause of education and community development.
