A political pundit and radical in Adamawa State, Alhaji Umar Mustapha Madawaki, also known as Otunba of Ekiti, has challenged anyone who wishes to refute the claim made by the former Adamawa Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa Ari, that Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, also known as Binani, was the legitimate winner of the 2023 governorship election in Adamawa.
According to Otunba, anyone who wants to deny Binani’s victory should be willing to hold a Holy scripture, such as the Qur’an, to swear to the truth of their claim, just like Hudu did when he reaffirmed his stance on the election outcome.
If Hudu Ari can hold the Qur’an to swear that Binani won the election, then those who claim otherwise should be willing to do the same
“Holding a Holy book, which contains the words of Allah, to swear in justification of one’s position, has grave implications for the swearing liar,” Otunba said. “If Hudu Ari can hold the Qur’an to swear that Binani won the election, then those who claim otherwise should be willing to do the same.”
Otunba’s challenge comes after Hudu Ari publicly swore to reaffirm his stance on the outcome of the 2023 Adamawa Governorship Election, rejecting the result determined by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Adamawa State Governorship Election Tribunal.
The former REC’s claim has sparked controversy, with some calling for him to provide evidence to support his assertion. However, Otunba believes that Hudu’s willingness to hold the Qur’an to swear to the truth of his claim should be taken seriously.

“If Hudu is willing to put his faith on the line by holding the Qur’an to swear that Binani won the election, then those who claim otherwise should be willing to do the same,” Otunba said. “Anything less would be seen as a lack of conviction and a attempt to deceive the public.”
