Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has once again stirred controversy with a bold critique of Nigeria’s political landscape, warning that his outspokenness may lead to his expulsion from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday evening, Ndume expressed concern over the dominance of “kakistocrats and kleptocrats” in the democratic space, lamenting that true democrats have been sidelined.

“If you have kakistocrats and kleptocrats dominating the democratic space, you have a problem because the democrats have been abandoned,” Ndume stated. Reflecting on the personal cost of his candor, he added, “I said it before, it cost me my job, and I don’t know whether next now I will be expelled from the party for saying this.”

Ndume’s remarks appear to reference his removal as Senate Chief Whip in July 2024, a move widely linked to his criticisms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

His latest comments escalate tensions within the APC, signaling frustration with the party’s direction as the 2027 elections loom. By accusing the political elite of incompetence and corruption, Ndume risks further alienating party leaders while rallying support among Nigerians disillusioned with governance.
