In a remarkable display of God’s ability to defy human expectations, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, recently shared a personal testimony that has left many in awe. During a Discipleship Impartation with Power service, Kumuyi reflected on his journey from being a quiet and reserved Sunday school student to becoming a renowned global preacher and leader.

Kumuyi’s story is one of transformation, as he recounted how his Sunday school and music teacher, who had known him since his youth, could never have imagined that he would go on to become a prominent figure in Christianity. The teacher, who had spent many years in England, remembered Kumuyi as a shy and introverted young man who could barely speak in front of small groups.

However, when the teacher returned to Nigeria and met Kumuyi again, he was astonished to discover that the same quiet and reserved person he once knew was now the same “Kumuyi” who was holding large conferences and crusades across the nation. The teacher’s initial reaction was one of disbelief, saying “Obviously, it’s not the Kumuyi I know.”

Yes, by the grace of God,” left the teacher in shock. He is the one standing before you

But Kumuyi’s humble response, “Yes, by the grace of God,” left the teacher in shock. When asked where this preacher was, Kumuyi calmly declared, “He is the one standing before you.” The teacher’s reaction was one of complete disbelief, as he struggled to comprehend the transformation that had occurred in Kumuyi’s life.

Through this testimony, Pastor Kumuyi urged his audience to trust in God’s calling and empowerment, regardless of how others might view their potential. He encouraged them to understand that God’s plans for His servants are far beyond what human eyes can see or comprehend. Kumuyi’s message emphasized the importance of faith, humility, and the understanding that God has already equipped and empowered each believer for the work He has set before them.

As Kumuyi so powerfully put it, “Nobody thought I could, but God said I can. Nobody thought you could, but God said you are His instrument. You will do it in Jesus’ name!” This statement serves as a reminder that God, not human perception, defines one’s destiny, and that His power can bring about radical change in a person’s life, transforming even the most unlikely individual into a vessel of divine purpose.
