In a pointed and highly publicized response, former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has addressed recent comments made by political commentator Bwala Daniel, clarifying his position regarding the current Tinubu administration. El-Rufai, who served as a cabinet minister over two decades ago, articulated his disinterest in any role within President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, asserting that his commitment to integrity and accountability supersedes personal ambition.
In a statement posted on social media, El-Rufai expressed his frustration with what he termed the “pathetic manner” in which some members of the Tinubu government have reacted to his critiques. “The level of your moral flexibility is perhaps a reflection of your recent conversion to the Tinubu government,” he remarked, emphasizing that his critiques of party dynamics stem from a place of deep-rooted loyalty to the political foundation he helped establish.

El-Rufai made it clear that had he chosen to remain within the Tinubu administration, he would still have voiced concerns about the party’s internal challenges, both privately and publicly. “If I had remained in the Tinubu government, I would say or do the same on the tragedy within a party I was a founder,” he stated, urging critics to review his public service record dating back to 1998.
His response to Bwala was not merely a defense of his principles but also a veiled critique of what he described as “political mercenaries” who, in his view, have aligned themselves with the current administration for personal gain. He specifically referenced individuals he implied lacked genuine commitment to public service, contrasting them with what he called “decent” individuals like Bwala.
El-Rufai concluded his statement with a reminder of the importance of prioritizing allegiance to God and country above all else. “Enjoy your special adviser position, my brother, but remember that allegiance to God and country comes first in human scale of accountability, before any person or authority,” he admonished.
