In a poignant gesture, a condolence letter from former President Obasanjo, dated June 6, 2025, was delivered to Hajia Fatima Bukar Mulima Aminu, widow of the late professor, at their residence in Yola.

Obasanjo, in his letter penned from Abeokuta, described Professor Aminu as one of Nigeria’s most outstanding elder statesmen, whose vast knowledge and experience significantly shaped national progress.

He lauded the late professor’s illustrious career as a scholar, medical cardiologist, policy analyst, administrator, and diplomat, noting his impactful tenure as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States from 1999-2003 under Obasanjo’s administration.

“His service was a fitting complement to my administration’s efforts to re-make the international profile of our dear country,” Obasanjo wrote, highlighting Aminu’s role in fostering peace and participatory governance.
