I’ll Never Forgive Maguire for Ruining My Ronaldo Dinner, Says Davido

Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reignited a years-old feud with Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, blaming the footballer for a missed dinner with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The “FEM” singer recounted a frustrating experience at Old Trafford that left him fuming and sparked a grudge he still holds today. The revelation, laced with Davido’s signature humor, has set social media ablaze, with fans debating football, loyalty, and the pressures of fandom.

The incident dates back to a Premier League match a couple of years ago when Davido, a self-proclaimed football fanatic, received a personal invitation from global icon Cristiano Ronaldo to attend a Manchester United game at Old Trafford.

According to Davido, Ronaldo had arranged an extravagant post-match experience, including a private dinner, a party, and “all the vibes” for the Afrobeats star and his entourage. “CR7, my guy, he say, ‘OBO, come watch me play, we go chill after,’” Davido recalled, grinning. “Man, I was gassed! Dinner booked, party set, everything ready.”

However, the evening took a sour turn when Manchester United suffered an unexpected loss. Davido pointed the finger squarely at Harry Maguire, alleging the defender’s poor performance on the pitch was the catalyst for the defeat.

“Nah so dem go lose match,” Davido lamented. “Baba [Ronaldo] vex, pack him things, go house. No dinner, no party, nothing! Me and my guys just dey look each other like, ‘Wetin happen now?’”

I still never forgive Maguire

While Davido didn’t specify the exact match, fans speculate it could be a high-profile loss during Ronaldo’s second stint at Manchester United (2021–2022), a period marked by inconsistent team performances and heavy scrutiny on Maguire’s defensive errors. “Since that day, I still never forgive Maguire,” Davido declared, shaking his head. “Football ehn, fit give person BP [blood pressure].”

Davido’s love for football is no secret. The singer has often shared his passion for the sport, frequently posting about matches and players on social media. His connection with Ronaldo, one of the greatest footballers of all time, has been a point of pride for the artist, who has met the Portuguese star on multiple occasions.

The two have been spotted together at events, and Davido has praised Ronaldo’s work ethic and charisma, calling him “a real gee.”
