Honourable Suleiman Alkali, Former Lawmaker to have represented Yola North Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly alleged that the plans by the Assembly under the leadership of Rt Honourable Iya Abbas has concluded plans to declare the seat of the Member representing Michika constituency, Honourable Ayuba Joseph Kwada (Depolis) over his defection to APC from PDP.
Suleiman said he was reliably told of the development and according to him, it has shown the high level of injustice the Lawmaker complaint was meted on him by the PDP government under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri
According to him Musa Bororo, a Lawmaker representing Mubi South constituency was defected to PDP from APC nobody declare his seat vacant, it’s an injustice this time around for the House to declare vacant Ayuba’s seat.
Alkali said that doing that by the speaker and other honorable lawmakers is injustice of the highest order and they will never accept that shall there be anything like that Tuesday’s morning (tomorrow)
Recall that Depolis last weekend has decamped to All Progressives Congress, APC, over what he says injustice of people’s Democratic Party, PDP, to him and the people of Michika.
Ayuba’s defection has since generate public discourse in many forums in Adamawa State, including social media platforms, analysts have revealed that the Adamawa State House of Assembly is under a time bomb of crisis.
He said speaker, Rt Hon Iya Abbas through the house Clark, Umar Usman Hamid sent a notice of emergency meeting to all lawmakers.
“This is to inform all Hon Members that the House will sit tomorrow Tuesday 26th April, 2022 at 10: 00 am please.” The notice read says Suleiman
He worried that the House has been adjourned its sitting and scheduled to return normal sitting on the 6th of June, 2023 only to call for a sitting because the Governor have an interest to declare a defected member’s seat vacant.
“We can’t accept this illegality, we have never seen it happening this way and as such we are going to stand against it with the whole of our might.
” It’s there in the house standing rule that you cannot declare a seat of a Lawmaker vacant if he did not announce his defection at the floor of the House. ” Suleiman said
Arguments abounds in many social media, with influencers like Nurudeen Kama where he said the house is now under the leadership of PDP with a very narrowed majority of 13 members while APC as minority is having 12 lawmakers.
