Honourable Emmanuel Tsamdu, Deputy speaker and member representing Madagali constituency in Adamawa state House of Assembly (ADHA) has condemn the purported impeachment skewed by few lawmakers of the Assembly.
Tsamdu maintain that for a Deputy speaker to be impeached for whatever reasons under whatever condition a quorum of 17 members must be formed.
According to him the Saturday plenary was a get together of 13 lawmakers to cause a confusion ahead of 2019 general elections.
“I’m still the Deputy speaker of Adamawa state House of Assembly, by the house standing order and our constitution 13 people cannot remove me,until a quorum of at least 17 lawmakers is formed.
“Is unfortunate the lawmakers are not willing to support Gov Bindo who is working tirelessly for our people.
” It’s because I don’t want to dance to their tune they are causing distraction in order to get the Governor’s attention.
“Base on what our rules guidelines in the House that that purported impeachment as far as im concern is a child’s play,and I’m still the Deputy speaker of the House.” Tsamdu maintained
While responding the newly sworn in Deputy speaker, Hon Lumsambani Mijah Dilli affirms that he is in charge and the second in command according to the provision of the House standing rules.
Dilli revealed that before decision was made to remove them,the clerk of the House give a good clearance that the impeachment followed due process.
“I presided over today’s plenary base on the oath of office I took today (sworn-in) as the deputy speaker of the House.
” The clerk have given the clearance that the impeachment is a valid and void of all irregularities. We followed due process to impeached them.
Recall that a Saturday plenary in the absent of the speaker, Rt Hon Kabiru Mijinyawa took place and an impeachment was done against the deputy speaker,majority Leader.
