Inconvenient Convention Against Cousin’s Candidacy, How Credible The Coalition Story?

“Coalition of the Corrupt and the Convener”. It was from Wole Soyinka, in “Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes?” One in the series of his “Interventions” that I read the alliteration making the above title for a reference to another alliterative title; “the creature casting the Creator in political Adamawa.”

This is not a forum to deliberate on Soyinka’s Interventions III, as he watched the watchman. However, the intervening title is worth counting, working on a fact finding whether or not what has gone viral via social media, with no credited source; how credible or corrupt is the story around “the creature casting the Creator in political Adamawa?”

Dr Najaatu Mohammed, a feminist activists and politician who is far away from Adamawa has articulated a viral piece on the same subject matter that a media gave the heading; “Moves Against Binani’s Governorship Ticket Exposes Aisha’s Deception About Women Empowerment, Encouragement To Join Politics,” which is considered, could count for a discourse on the earlier alleged meeting at the convenience of the First lady, serving also as the convener.

“Our voices for Binani’s victory must be heard. History has no place for cowards,” Najaatu’s final vocabulary advocated.

What is more disturbing is the silence of and/or from the First Lady that greeted the weighty allegation, considered as the brief or minutes of the meeting convened by her at the Rock.

The vice chairman northeast of the party known to be in open opposition to Binani has also not issued or is yet clear the air either, to deny that there was a meeting, intended to block Binani’s chances of reclaiming the governorship ticket and/or sabotage her from winning the race.

However, the Adamawa state chapter of the APC has in a statement jointly signed by the chairman Hon Samaila Tadawus and the secretary, Dr. Raymond Chidama pointed out that “the purpose of the meeting was to congratulate the First Lady over recent happenings in the polity and especially her appointment as the chairperson of the Tinubu/Shettima Women Campaign Team. It was also meant to serve as a platform to discuss how Her Excellency could support the vision of the State Exco of the party to take our candidates to victory.

“All candidates of the party were duly invited to the meeting and we are grateful that the majority of the candidates, EXCO members, and other senior stakeholders honored the invitation”.

Was Najaatu responding to the unverified if at all, compendium of mendacity or the position of the APC Adamawa state executive members, pointed to what can best be described as practiced obscurantism?

Deconstructing The position shared in the viral piece, as credited to the First Lady identified contradictions;

The First Lady, she is, it is said, who championed the call for women to join politics and in this sense, elective positions; from top to bottom. The argument credited to her has revealed the opposite when she said, Nigeria is not ripe for a female gubernatorial candidate or an elected female governor. That the maximum women should expect is a female deputy governor, even when her cousin, the electorates would expect her full support.

Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani was reported as saying that Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the First Lady favoured as the piece would relate, is her elder brother whom she has so much respect for, hence would have no reason to blame him as he has the right to challenge what he observed as improperly conducted governorship primaries before the law.

Binani told me that her spirited dream is to have the state citizenry united in their diversity than to remain diversionary as much as she is to strengthen what unites the family.

She said she has a mission to accomplish, representational responsibilities to rely, on in addition to governorship aspiration and the obligations to her immediate family, when does she have the time to denigrate or hold malice against anyone?

She was not in the meeting she was not invited, if there was the meeting, hence could not make any comment about the viral outcome.

She said, power belongs to the Creator. Therefore, the created needs to have faith in fate.

Adamawa indeed needs the unity to succeed it should be prayed for.
