Adamawa-born politician, Alhaji Hamisu Idris Medugu has called on Nigerians to be more patriotic to nation-building as the country marks its 61st independence day.
Hamisu, a philanthropist and advocate for good governance said a good sense of patriotism will give birth to a better Nigeria of everyone’s dream.
Medugu an aspiring senator from Adamawa Northern senatorial district lamented how the country is fast eroding out from unity of purpose established by its founding fathers.
He enjoined the inculcation of moral values to replace the seeming rotten system in all aspects of the country’s affairs.
While congratulating Nigerians for witnessing the 61st birthday of the country’s nationhood, especially the people of Adamawa Northern Senatorial zone he called on all and sundry to steadily pray for a rebirth of another Nigeria through attitudinal change.
According to him, a great nation is possible out of Nigeria with the caliber of great men and women, with the much deposit of mineral resources in high quantum in all the six geopolitical zones will produce a Nigeria of everyone’s dream if it is well harnessed.
He however said that a new Nigeria will not emerge if the people will not stand up for good governance and ensure the right people are in places of authority, this can be the only way the country’s newest form will surface.
Hamisu, a known voice for the fight of the downtrodden in No only in Adamawa State but the country as a whole.
He called on Nigerians to support a good electoral process that will give good and credible people the opportunity to contest election as electioneering year is fast approaching.
He opened that 2023 is pregnant with a lot of good things and every good Nigerian should key into it by calling on good people to venture into politics for a hope and a better future Nigerians.
“I’m interested in a united Nigeria, a peaceful nation with everyone happy and proud of being a Nigerian. This can be only possible if our attitudes toward the nation are patriotic to nation-building. My joy will be fulfilled if the killings will stop under whatever guise, the fight will end for whatever reasons, and the kidnappings and abduction will cease to exist for whatever purpose.
” I long for Nigeria where everyone is equal to everyone, where all parts of the nation are treated as the same as any part, I want to see a nation where its citizens can live and die for the country. The Nigerian of my dream is its glory and pride will rise high in the commonwealth and around the nations of the world.
“I hope to see a country where a Naira will be equal to a dollar and pound sterlings the exchange rate and whatever market be the same,” Medugu said
