It appears there is a mishap regarding who is the right candidate for the New Nigeria people’s party (NNPP) to represent the Federal constituency of Toungo, Ganye, Jada, and Mayo Belwa area of Adamawa state.

Confusion arises when Mohammed Bello who willingly withdraw and tendered documents of his withdrawal to both party office and independent National Election Commission (INEC) and was replaced with Hon Hammantukur Yettisuri, the current member representing Jada/Mbulo in the Adamawa state house of assembly was not well done and affected.

The Name of Mohammed Bello still on the final list of those who will contest by INEC is causing a lot of controversies to the voters of Jada, Ganye, Mayo Belwa, and Toungo federal constituency.

Our correspondent contacted Hammantukur Yettisuri to know his fate in the coming national assembly elections, 2023 he said that INEC and his NNPP party are to sort out the inconsistencies of the right candidate to field in the gap of Mohammed’s willingly withdrawal.

According to him be it as it may, is confident that the mistake can be corrected and he remains the sole, and bonafide candidate of the party.

He reiterated that Mohammed has since decided to change his mind over the contest and willingly thrown out the towel:

“as I’m talking to you I don’t know his whereabouts and I can’t tell you where he is.”

“I filled out necessary documents and I was wholly convinced that Mohammed has submitted his withdrawal forms. I think the mishap is from INEC, possibly they didn’t adhere to my party instructions. I’m sure they will correct the abnormalities.

” The pressure mounted on me by people after I lost out of PDP primaries, my People vowed to give me their mandate and called on me to go and contest the house of representatives seat in NNPP, this informed my decision to join the party.

“The people have chosen NNPP, they decided the party for me to carry their mandate in the national assembly, I think by now it should be in the ear of everyone that Mohammed has changed his mind to run again and INEC can not force anyone on our people.

” The right thing to be done is to replace his name with my name which I know is an oversight mistake that my party and INEX can sort it out in a sooner possible date.” Yettisuri said

Honorable Yetisuri continued to say that the electoral act has spelled out withdrawal issues of candidates in sections 30 to 36 which Mohammed has dully followed, fulfilled all conditions of anyone that wants to withdraw from contesting an election seat.

“I’m confirming to you that I’m the bonafide candidate for NNPP for the people of Toungo, Ganye, Jada, and Mayo Belwa because Mohammed has bowed out from the race, and any attempt for him to claim back the candidature is tantamount to a crime because he fulfilled all withdrawal conditions as enshrined in the electoral laws.

” I don’t know the Mohammed you people are even talking about that I may probably have met him and lobbied for the ticket from him. All I know is that the party conducted another primary within two weeks of his withdrawal and I won.

“Now is left for my party and INEC to sort out the issue and replace his name with mine as stated by our elected laws.” He added

He revealed that the problem is not unique to the Adamawa constituency, it’s a national problem that is affecting almost every constituency in the country and the party’s national officials are bent on sorting all matters with INEC before 2023 election.

“May I say that this is not the final list from INEC so my people should remain calm and allow our party to address the matter as it should. Winning is all I see.” He said
