INEC declares Atiku as winner of presidential election in Adamawa

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced former vice president Atiku Abubakar the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the overall winner of Saturday’s presidential election in Adamawa State.

Announcing the result the returning officer of the election Professor Lamun Mele said Atiku emerged the winner of the contest for scoring 417,611.

The candidate of the ruling party, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu took a distant second position by polling 182,811 votes, while the candidate of the labour party, Peter Obi polled 105,684.

The returning officer also announced that the state has 2,186,465 registered voters while 764,834 were accredited.

He said a total of 30,481 votes were rejected while 761,621 votes were cast during the election.
