INEC Kicks Off Intensive Training for Field Officers Ahead of Crucial FCT Area Council Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched a four-day technical training workshop for Electoral Officers (EOs) and Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs), signaling intensified preparations for the highly anticipated **Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Elections** scheduled for February 2026.

The workshop, which began on Thursday, January 9, 2026, at the Silver Green Hotel in Gudu, Abuja, focuses on the theme “Effective Management of Key Election Activities.”

It aims to bolster the operational capabilities of these critical field officers by providing in-depth knowledge of the electoral legal framework, INEC policies, processes, and procedures.

According to an official statement from INEC, the training equips participants with essential skills to plan, organize, and manage pivotal election activities in compliance with established guidelines.

A key emphasis is placed on developing robust election implementation plans that promote efficient administrative communication and seamless coordination among stakeholders.

The Commission highlighted the strategic importance of Electoral Officers and Assistant Electoral Officers in ensuring the smooth execution of the electoral process.
