INEC Kicks Off Voter Register Verification in FCT, Urges Residents to Check Details

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched the display of the Preliminary Register of Voters (PRV) for claims and objections across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), following the suspension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise on October 12, 2025.

This critical step in the electoral process invites residents to verify their details and ensure the voter register’s accuracy ahead of upcoming elections.

In line with Section 19(1) of the 2022 Electoral Act, the PRV display is being conducted at all 62 Registration Areas in the FCT. The register includes details of all intending voters who registered during the recently concluded CVR exercise.

The verification process, which runs daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., began on Friday, October 17, and will continue until Thursday, October 23, 2025. The final day will be dedicated to addressing claims and objections raised during the exercise.

INEC FCT has called on all residents who participated in the CVR to visit their respective registration centres to confirm the accuracy of their details.

“This is a vital opportunity for newly registered voters to ensure their information is correct and to make claims if there are discrepancies,” an INEC spokesperson said. The commission also urged other voters to review the displayed PRV and raise objections to the inclusion of ineligible individuals, reinforcing the integrity of the voter register.

The exercise is a cornerstone of INEC’s commitment to transparent and credible elections, providing a platform for public participation in refining the voter list. Residents are encouraged to take part in this civic duty to safeguard the electoral process in the FCT.
